Patent and Trademark Manager

Maksym primarily focuses on trademark prosecution, providing a comprehensive range of services, including pre-filing consulting, trademark watches and similarity searches, preparation and filing of trademark applications, as well as preparing and submitting responses to office actions, provisional refusals, third-party observations, and pre-grant and post-grant oppositions. He also handles other trademark-related advisory and portfolio-management matters.

 

Maksym is officially authorized to represent resident clients before the Chamber of Appeals of the UA PTO and regularly acts on their behalf in complex trademark matters.

 

Maksym’s expertise extends well beyond trademark prosecution, as he is actively engaged with copyright enforcement, matters involving geographical indications, trade names and industrial designs, offering strategic and practical guidance across a broad spectrum of IP rights.

 

Maksym is a candidate member of the National Association of Patent Attorneys of Ukraine.

His recent matters include:

  • Advising up-and-coming Ukrainian fashion designer on the available options for protecting their brand. As part of the selected strategy, supported successful registration of one of the first position trademarks in Ukraine, paving the way for its potential expansion into the European market.

  • Managing an extensive IP-portfolio of a leading global pharmaceutical company and handling all related matters.

  • Assisting one of the largest retailers of appliances and electronics on the Polish market in overcoming the provisional refusal, covering multiple classes. The issue revolved around the existence of three prior trademarks that initially seemed confusingly similar.
