Ukraine Against Counterfeits: INTA Policy Dialogue 2024

For the first time since early 2022, Ukrainian lawyers, government agencies, and businesses along with international experts discussed fighting against counterfeits. The International Trademark Association (INTA) organized the event "Ukraine Against Counterfeits: Dialogue with the Patent Office, Customs, and Law Enforcement." The event was moderated by Oleksandr Mamunya, managing partner of Mamunya IP, who led the discussions.

The goal of the event was to outline strategies to combat counterfeit products, understand the scope of the problem, and define a unified approach to take action as well as to demonstrate readiness of the Ukrainian state authorities to effectively participate in anti-counterfeiting.

The event brought together more than one hundred participants from different countries and became a key step in strengthening intellectual property rights protection in Ukraine.

Representatives of Ukrainian government, including UA PTO, the Economic Security Bureau, and the State Customs Service, presented their achievements, such as:

  • Developing new tools to protect intellectual property;

  • Expanding international cooperation;

  • Implementing reforms.

International participants shared experience in their countries and explained how they help fighting against counterfeits in the Ukrainian market.

The event highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between national and international partners to clean the market from counterfeit products, even during the war.

Mamunya IP is proud to contribute to the anti-counterfeiting process.
