Suspension of IP-related deadlines in Ukraine lifted

Suspension of IP-related deadlines in Ukraine lifted

On April 16, 2025, Ukraine adopted a law that cancels the suspension of IP-related deadlines introduced during martial law. All standard deadlines for patent, trademark, and other IP-related actions are fully reinstated.

Key deadlines include:

  • 2 months to pay filing fees, respond to office actions, or submit documents

  • 2-3 months to respond to provisional refusals or preliminary conclusions (depending on the type of IP)

  • 3 months to file an opposition against a trademark application after its publication

  • 6 months to file an opposition against a patent application after its publication

  • 2-3 months to appeal decisions or pay granting fees.

Once the law is officially published, it will take effect after 30 days, followed by a 75-day transitional period. During this105-day window, overdue actions can be completed without penalty. After thatlate actions will incur surcharges or risk loss of rights.

All deadlines will resume from where they left off, considering any time that had already passed before suspension.

The above applies across all procedural actions involving all intellectual property objects.

To our clients and partners: please be assured that we are actively monitoring previously suspended cases and all pending matters requiring attention. We remain fully committed to supporting you through this transitional period and ensuring the protection of your IP rights in Ukraine.
